Please read the section of the copyright document on PSHE puberty before you start using the resources. Some of the lessons in this unit were delivered in English due to their sensitive nature and need to encourage very open dialogue. However the majority were delivered in French.

The first two lessons look at changes both physical and mental that take place during puberty. There is some exemplar student work .

Students identify what they are looking forward to during puberty. There are some examples of student work looking at writing answers to problems plus assessment details .

Problems in puberty are identified. students watch some adverts about such problems and products and then create ther own advert.

There is a powerpoint where students spot the differences between post war and today’s agriculture . Students then explore reasons for these differences using a card sort activity.

This lesson uses an RSPB campaign to show students that campaigns need to exemplify the reasons for the need to save and solutions . the rest of the materials take students through why orangutans are endangered and how they can be saved. Students then work in groups to produce a campaign . Groups set up stalls with their campaign materials and students go around the stalls and peer assess the work. They do this in French .Students absolutely love this and go the extra mile often producing DVDs broadcasts etc to accompany their campaigns .

Lesson plan in methodology booklet page 22 onwards unit resource The next few lessons concentrate on problems in Amazonia and the students aim to solve the mystery of who killed the rubber tapper Chico Mendez. This is a true event but the trial is fictitious. The lessons take you through understanding the problems, looking at the evidence and students preparing their speeches in role. Then a trial take place . This is challenging but the students enjoy using their French to good effect .

Read copyright info, lesson plan and refer to student handbook all available on unit overview resource . Scale is a tricky topic ans so this lesson starts with a plan of a bedroom and then applies scale to maps. It then finally shows French maps which add a cultural dimension.

Read copyright doc, use lesson plan and student booklet all available on mapwork unit resource. Students work with maps to identify a tour for a French family visiting the local area. They produce a leaflet and then present to the class . There are examples of student work included here which can be used as exemplars .

Get yourself some potatoes as if each student has a potato and draws the contours on this and then does a plan view , they will get the concept easily Students complete contour maps in student handbook . They then follow up with task in handbook and can apply to ordnance survey maps .

The lesson plan is included in the unit overview methodology booklet from page 22 onwards. Word student handbook extract included for this lesson . this is a living graph activity involving a climate graph. There is a video clip and students are encouraged to reflect on the impact of climate change.

This is a short powerpoint which shows use of classroom French to help with a CLIL lesson

This is the end of unit assessment . Students have to take all of the retail theories and factors that they have learnt about in previous lessons and apply these to the design of a shopping centre . They then self and peer assess the work .There are two sheets which can be used as checklists. Each student presents the justification of their design to their teacher . There are exemplar pieces of work to show what can be achieved . The plan for the centre is drawn in plan view. Students absolutely love this task , find it very accessible and thoughtfully apply concepts and justify them. The task is very motivating and creative.

This lesson looks at the issues for and against toursim in Antarctica . Students are led through the issues via a powerpoint and then work in groups to produce a radio broadcast with people taking roles for and against tourism on this continent.
